Cycling in the Alentejo

Cycling through rolling fields of wildflowers and olive trees, you'll discover an area of Portugal that many consider to be the last vestige of old Iberia. 

Medieval walled villages, white-washed and trimmed in blue, dot the hilltops while plains of wheat and oats spread out below, freckled with small flocks of sheep and goats grazing under majestic cork trees. 

You'll be left with unforgettable memories of this lovely region - its serenity, beauty and, of course, days of idyllic cycling.

With traffic free roads and beautiful landscapes is no surprise that the Alentejo is one of our favourite places in Portugal, but don't take it from us, the Alentejo gets praise in the press all over the world!

Day to Day

Day 1 - Évora

Explore the UNESCO World Heritage town, jewel and heart of Portugal's vast Alentejo region.

Day 2 - Évora to Monsaraz

Ride through stunning open fields of wildflowers and a village dedicated entirely to pottery.

Day 3 - Monsaraz to Estremoz

Cycle past ancient dolmens and menhirs before heading into the beautiful cork forest of Serra d’Ossa.

Day 4 - Estremoz Loop

Loop through the beautiful marble towns of Borba and Vila Viçosa, considered Portugal’s white gold everything down to the park benches is in marble!

Passing ancient olive groves and world famous wineries we cycle to the little town of Arraiolos.

Day 6 - Arraiolos to Évora

A short ride to lovely Évora before heading back to Lisbon or spending an extra night in Évora.
